We're talking about real spending cuts here, no smoke and mirrors.

He's outlining the parameters of the deal. And the deal we're talking about is something that would actually fund the government for the rest of the year.

But we're not going to roll over and sell out the American people like has been time and time again here in Washington. When we say we're serious about cutting spending, we're damn serious about it.

Most of the policy issues have been dealt with, and the big fight is over the spending.

I'm pleased that Senator Reid and I and the White House have been able to come to an agreement that will, in fact, cut spending and keep our government open.

I don't think the country does. But he's got this base. They are committed -- they should be committed if we had a functioning mental health system, but they want to shut the government down over this.
