I once met him in New York during the Obama years to plead with him to put a leash on some of the crazies he was putting on the air. It was making my job trying to accomplish anything conservative that much harder.

Let me just be clear here. A debt limit increase without any reforms to lower our deficit just isn`t going to cut it.

The modern Republican Party is filled with, as John Boehner put it, people who spend more time tearing things apart than actually building anything.

Oh, yes, Jim Jordan especially.

For a bill that was supposed to be about jobs, jobs, jobs, has turned into a bill that`s all about spending, spending, and spending.

Even though I didn`t really want to go the direction where the team`s gone, they were the ones who elected me to be the leader, and I had an obligation to go lead them.

This bill is the greatest threat to freedom that I have seen in the 19 years I have been here in Washington.

I think there’s a point here where the American people are wondering, is the president above the law? The president could have put this whole issue behind us, not put the country and the world through this misery, if he had just told us…

I`m a Republican actually, I`m a conservative Republican, but I`m not crazy and then they`ve got, I don`t know, these noisemakers I`ll call them. Ted Cruz, Jim Jordan, I could go down a long list of people more interested in making noise…

I`ll admit I wasn`t prepared for what came after the election. Trump refusing to accept the results and stoking the flames of conspiracy that turned into violence in the seat of our democracy, the building over which I once presided.

There is nothing more dangerous than a reckless expletive deleted, who thinks he is smarter than everyone else? Ladies and gentlemen, meet Senator Ted Cruz.

Take it from me. You`ll never know where you`ll end up. That`s freedom. I`ll raise a glass to that any day. P.S. Ted Cruz, go fuck yourself.

We need to look no further than our nation's 20 million veterans, 20 percent of whom... reportedly use cannabis to self-treat PTSD, chronic pain and other ailments.

We've been locked in a fight over here trying to bring government down to size, trying to do our best to stop Obamacare. We fought the good fight. We just didn't win.

I doubt anyone will ever accuse me of being soft on crime. To the contrary, there would be very few Members of Congress ever who have sent more people to prison.

I am a big believer in the Golden Rule--treat other people the way we want to be treated.

If we had somehow been able to do that deal, we would not be having to negotiate this situation now with $20 trillion in debt.
