Last week, President Trump and DHS Secretary Nielsen made another shameful anti-immigrant decision by ending temporary protected status for 31,000 Salvadoran TPS holders.

It is clear to me that President Trump, Attorney General Sessions, and Republicans in Congress have sought and continue to use the threat of MS-13 to justify their push to build a wall.

I know and understand that you cannot destroy a gang like MS-13 without the help of immigrant communities.

I believe all violent criminals should be punished to the full extent of the law.

Among these less visible weapons, access to timely and accurate information is oftentimes the difference between a successful investigation and an unsolved crime.

This is not even so much as a political issue, almost as a moral issue. This guy does not belong on the national stage.

I hope that in the very near future, this subcommittee can take a hard look at what went wrong in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands so we can make sure people in our country never suffer like this again.

I am concerned about how the reduction in full-time SWICs--and the disbanding of other governance structures--might undermine progress made toward improving emergency communications capabilities since 9/11.

However, al-Qaeda has remained active during this time. They have selected new, younger leadership, become more media savvy.

In response to this pressure, al-Qaeda has demonstrated its resilience and evolved: It has diffused its leadership structure across the globe.

On September 11, 2001, the world at large was introduced to the brutal, murderous, and morally bankrupt terrorist organization known as al-Qaeda.

The fact is during this time al-Qaeda was reconstituting. It was reinforcing itself.

But I think there has been a mistake made over the last several years by people and this is not a partisan issue--it involves both parties, it involves spokespeople in both parties--is to emphasize ISIS.
