Ransomware attacks have devastating real-world consequences for Americans.

It is also vital that the Secret Service has the authorities and resources to investigate ransomware attacks and illicit financing operations.

I am committed to continuing to work with the entities in New York's 2d District and across the country to improve their cybersecurity posture in the wake of increasing threats.

If the past year has taught us nothing else, it is that no entity is too small or too big to experience a ransomware attack.

I appreciate the witnesses being here today to discuss the administration's holistic efforts to combat ransomware.

The United States right now, I think, faces an overwhelming threat from cyber crime, especially ransomware.

This impacts every place in America, including my constituents who have recently been victims of these types of attacks.

This joint hearing is a great opportunity to continue that work, focusing on the transportation sector, which impacts millions of Americans.

As you know all, cybersecurity remains an area of bipartisan cooperation in Congress.

I do want to note Representative Langevin's leadership on this important issue and his transparency with the Minority.

Thank you, Chairwoman Clarke and Chairwoman Watson Coleman, for holding this important hearing today.

As the Ranking Member of the Cybersecurity Subcommittee, I know that cyber risks are some of the greatest threats to our Nation's communications infrastructure.

Why would they purchase equipment from a known foreign adversary, especially in the light of well-documented cybersecurity vulnerabilities?

I would very much appreciate if we could have that meeting, Mr. Wray.

This is the exact attack that President Biden had messaged to President Putin against.

If this amendment is agreed to, it will prioritize the consideration of the infrastructure package over the partisan wish list.

Unfortunately, House democratic leadership has instead prioritized the partisan goal of pushing through this reconciliation budget resolution.

We must not delay in providing such funds once the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment in Jobs Act is considered by Congress.

We must ensure that CISA has the visibility it needs to help defend our Federal networks.

We cannot allow these devastating attacks against our Nation to continue.

This legislation introduced by myself, Congressman Evan, Congresswoman Houlahan, and former Ranking Member Chabot is so critical.

H.R. 4256 delivers modernization and provides further access to capital for small businesses in my district in New York and beyond.

The SBIC program is a unique tool that provides private equity capital to small businesses in a prudent way.

I am confident that Jen Easterly, Anne Neuberger, and Chris Inglis have the experience, the talent, and drive to address this issue as well as the many others facing our Nation in the space.
