I have introduced the AIRWAVES Act with Ranking Member Doyle which, among other things, would help spur rural broadband deployment by dedicating 10 percent of spectrum auction proceeds under the bill to rural broadband.

Lawmakers in state capitals including Trenton and in several other state capitals around the country have raided the funds set aside to improve the 9-1-1 system.

This unacceptable practice leaves counties and localities on the hook for maintaining and upgrading their systems, and this of course endangers public safety.

I certainly believe that the bipartisan, bicameral AIRWAVES Act that I recently introduced with Ranking Member Doyle is a fitting candidate.
