I want to thank Dr. Bright for coming forward and for being here today.

Our top priority is the health and safety of the American people.

The HEROES Act continues our ongoing commitment to providing the healthcare resources and support needed to combat the coronavirus crisis.

That could not be further from the truth, Mr. President.

The promises have been hollow. Testing is getting better, but nowhere where what it needs to be.

For months, the President has refused to develop and implement a national testing program.

Instead of showing leadership, competence, and vision in a time of crisis, the administration has abdicated its responsibility and forced States to fend for themselves and find their own way out of this pandemic.

President Trump and his administration have failed to provide the consistent and stable leadership that is necessary to guide our Nation through this public health and economic crisis.

I regret that Secretary Azar, Dr. Robert Kadlec, and Dr. Peter Navarro have all refused to testify today.

Our country is paying a terrible price today, and it rests on Congress to address this threat.

We can't have a system where the government fires those who get it right and reward those who get it completely wrong.

We can't have a system where the price paid is unconscionable--mothers losing daughters, daughters losing fathers because of incompetence, denial, delay, and a disorganized response.

While I don't agree with Mrs. Rodgers in terms of what she said about the Trump administration leading on this issue, I don't think they are, but I do want to thank you for pointing out that there is a lot more that the private sector…

I do think that is a problem. I think the answer is no. There is no way for customers to be sure they are getting their products supplied by the seller they see listed or know when they aren't.

I wanted to get more clarity on Amazon's practice of comingling inventory from different sellers.

But this convenience has come at a devastating price: a proliferation of dangerous counterfeit goods that endanger consumers and property.

This week is National Consumer Protection Week, and I think we can help bring attention to issues that are causing consumer problems.

And consumers and authentic brands cannot fight the combination of lax policies of online platforms and deceptive practices of unscrupulous sellers trying to edge out legitimate businesses.

Recycling can play an important role in addressing climate change and reducing pollution in our communities while also boosting local economies.

I think that addressing this plastic waste crisis is going to require efforts to reduce the waste stream, not just recycle it.
