Kent Conrad is a former United States Senator from North Dakota, serving from 1993 to 2013. A member of the Democratic Party, he was known for his work on fiscal policy and budget issues, particularly as the Chairman of the Senate Budget Committee. Throughout his tenure, Conrad advocated for responsible budgeting and was involved in discussions surrounding Social Security and healthcare reform. I have warned my colleagues many times that the debt is the threat. I believe that deeply.
I do not think we have faced a more significant fiscal challenge in my lifetime, and we will be judged based on our ability to respond.
I think what is absolutely essential is we put the country on a long-term, sustainable fiscal basis.
This is important to talk about and so critical for us as Senators up here and the Members of the House.
We need action and it is absolutely imperative that it be done in the interest of everyone, those in the basin, those downstream.
We were unanimous in our position. Unanimous. Very rare in today's political climate.
If we do not move more water off the west side of the lake... we will face extremely serious consequences downstream.
