We know sea levels are rising. We know average temperatures are warming. We know ice is disappearing at alarming rates.

Thank you, Chairman Tonko and Ranking Member Shimkus, for holding this important hearing today to discuss the urgent threat from climate change we all face and the Federal inaction from this administration that puts us all at risk.

Being here today with this bipartisan group of people working to preserve our land, he is looking from up above and saying: Well done, all of you.

John Dingell loved this committee. He thought the work that they did was very important, and I hear him in my ear going, 'Woman, get on,' and hearing him in the ears of everybody, 'Work together for the American people.'

The administration's refusal to invest in outreach and enrollment is making it harder for Americans to get healthcare.

This guidance is bad for consumers, bad for individuals with preexisting conditions, and bad for taxpayers.

The Trump administration would give insurance companies the green light to once again discriminate against people with preexisting conditions.

This profiteering at the expense of people's health is simply unacceptable.

These two companies have worked to--if they are combined together we are going to have the New T-Mobile with Mr. Legere sitting at the head who has not made one iota to build out to rural America.

The need for action is clear--we must work to address climate change without delay by taking strong and decisive action at the Federal level.

Unfortunately, the Trump administration has elected to ignore the numerous economic, public health, and ecological benefits that public land preservation provides.

Public lands are key to the economic and ecological health of Michigan.

Repealing, rolling back, or weakening the Clean Power Plan, Clean Air Act, clean car standards, or any other effort to reduce greenhouse gases only exacerbates the climate crisis we need to solve.

It is critical the United States rejoint the rest of the industrialized world as a member of the Paris Climate Accord.

We need bold, new ideas to create a pathway to a clean energy future and create new, good-paying jobs at the same time.

The time for debate is over-urgent and decisive action is needed now on a significant scale to address climate change.

We must rejoin our partners in the international community by committing to the Paris Climate Accord and taking strong action to limit future greenhouse gas emissions.

We must promote renewable energy, commit to investing in new technology, and redouble our conservation efforts to mitigate, adapt, and reverse the growing climate threat.

The magnitude of this threat demands bold action, and we must work to address this urgent issue without delay.
