Dan Benishek is a former Republican member of the United States House of Representatives, serving Michigan's 1st congressional district from 2011 to 2015. A physician by profession, he focused on healthcare issues during his time in office, advocating for reforms and policies aimed at improving access to medical care. Benishek was known for his commitment to veterans' affairs and worked on legislation to support veterans' healthcare and benefits. He was elected to Congress in the 2010 midterm elections, part of the larger Republican wave that year, and served one term before being defeated in the 2014 election.
I do not want to have any, you know, let me put it that way, that I want to have some strict definitions of what is going on there so that we can actually hold people accountable and not slip out, if you understand what I mean.
Such inaction is intolerable where the care and services provided to our veterans is concerned.
I just do not like the fact that people, managers of a project, that do not respond to an IG report for over a year.
I think that identifying the person in charge of that program is important because when we have these people before us, it is never the actual person that was in charge that actually appears here.

I have made it a priority to continue these conversations with my veteran constituents and I can tell you that unfortunately their experiences at VA have not changed for the better.
Ten hours on a bus for a 20 minute specialty clinic appointment seems like not the best use of the veteran's time or VA's dollars.
