- I rise this afternoon in strong support of H.R. 5185, the EARLY Act. This very important bipartisan bill would reauthorize education and outreach programs at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention created to highlight the breast cancer risks facing young women. Breast cancer, as we know, is an issue that hits close to home for many Americans. While most breast cancers are found in women who are over 50 years old or older, about 11 percent of all new cases of breast cancer in the U.S. are found in women 45 and younger. And while diagnosis and treatment are difficult for women of any age, young survivors often find it even more challenging. This bill would reauthorize the important programs created in the EARLY Act, first passed to increase an understanding of breast cancer among young women by conducting prevention research and a campaign to raise awareness among the public and medical providers about early cases of breast cancer. This bill continues to improve the health and quality of life of young breast cancer survivors and young women who are at a higher risk of getting the disease. I want to particularly thank the two authors of the bill, Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz, herself a breast cancer survivor, and Energy and Commerce Committee member Renee Ellmers, who is managing the bill this afternoon. I am so proud to support this effort.…2 sources2014govinfo.gov
Well, he's on the tap lift, the short five, I guess you could call it. I don't think the things that he said back in 2016, maybe 2017 really matter much. He's a MAGA Republican.
The first would be expanding energy production in the United States. So, of course, one way to do that is through oil and gas, but other ways is through renewable energy.
I think, with all governmental policies, there is a balance of costs and benefits.
Does anyone actually believe this bill is going to reduce inflation? I didn't think so. Those of you that know me know that I am not afraid to work across the aisle on important legislation that helps Americans, whether it was the 21st…
I thank the chairman for yielding. This morning, I saw the news that the North Carolina Little League State championship was canceled. That is right. Why? An active shooter. I saw the frantic video of a mom holding her handheld video of…
Sadly, I know that the Gun Owners of America opposes this bill, but it does nothing to threaten the legal use of any gun. It only protects humans that, in fact, may be the target.
This bill, ARPA-H, can provide the breakthroughs necessary to find cures for those diseases. The President has already signed $1 billion for this program into law. So what we need now is bipartisan authorization to complete the work. This…
I thank my very good friend, and I certainly appreciate his kind words. The good news is I am not done yet. We have a lot of work to do, and this is yet one more piece that we are going to be driving forward. But, certainly, I rise in…
I thank my colleague from Ohio for yielding time. You know, a few years ago in this building, the U.S. Capitol, we had an active shooter. I was there. Tragically, he killed two brave Capitol Police officers as the shooter tried to hunt…
I don`t think we have had so as many folks in that sort of wing of the party elected as we had before, but I think they`re very popular back at home.
It seems like just yesterday when a number of community leaders encouraged me to run for Congress. Against all odds, we ended up winning a very hotly contested Republican primary, and the journey began. Throughout my career, I have leaned…
The Strategic Petroleum Reserve was created by Congress to respond to several oil supply disruptions, not as a bailout. This administration has to end its hostility to producing energy right here under our feet and reverse the policies…
I do rise in opposition to both the rule and the previous question so the House can consider H.R. 6235, the Strategic Production Response Act, introduced by the top Republican on the Energy and Commerce Committee, Mrs. Cathy McMorris…
At a time when we are seeing the highest rates ever--100,000 folks, man, in 2020--it is so disturbing that the administration seems to be favoring weakening penalties for drug traffickers.
If these subpoenas are disregarded entirely, how are we going to operate in the future?
I think he might have been from South Carolina. His own senator, Lindsey Graham couldn't find a closer confidante of President Trump than Lindsey Graham in his four years.
This is -- I think, that call -- I think he might have been from South Carolina.
It's going to ultimately -- Mr. Garland has as a big say here in terms of how this thing proceeds.
We needed to know what steps DOE is taking to encourage more U.S. energy production.
