I know where I am on issues. I don't believe in abolishing the police. I don't believe in abolishing prisons. I don't believe in open borders.

Over the next year, I am asking every governor in this country, Democrat and Republican, for three things.

And if the people determine that there’s nothing to do, then there’s nothing to do. But if the people determine that we move, we move.

At a time when Americans are seeking sensible solutions to the biggest challenges facing our country, Service United will help get to the heart of what so many Americans are looking for.

Its promise is simple: Service from All. Opportunity for All.

Service United is a bipartisan call to action for our nation’s governors to create and expand paid service programs that meet our most urgent community needs while helping young Americans build critical skills.

At a time of deep division, I firmly believe that service will save us.

I am honored to work with the new executive committee as chair, and I am confident that when we put our heads together we will show that government still works, bipartisan leaders still deliver, and service will save us.

NGA is stepping into a new era – where governors have a strong voice in the national debate, states have a real seat at the table, and we work across party lines to deliver practical solutions for all Americans.

Service teaches us that you and the person beside you are the partners in working towards a common goal.

Our long-term goal is to reach 1 million Americans serving each year within the next decade, and with the leadership and the help of this organization and our nation’s remarkable governors, we are going to get this done.

So the promise is simple: service from all, opportunity for all.

And I’m proud to say that in Maryland, we became the first state in the country that offers a paid-year service to our high school graduates because every young person in our state deserves a chance to serve.

So over this next year, I will ask us to lead in Service United, and to remember that in this time of political divisiveness and political vitriol-that it is, in fact, service that will save us-and I know that service is going to save us…

What we have seen from the federal government thus far has just been simply executive orders that have told the states to stay out of it.

Registered apprenticeship is a cornerstone of Maryland’s workforce development strategy because it delivers results for businesses and workers.

To win the fights of tomorrow, we are building pathways to work, wages and wealth today by expanding access to apprenticeship opportunities.

In a rapidly evolving economy, governors are working with urgency to empower our workforce and strengthen hardworking families to thrive, all while being fiscally responsible.

The Center for Dignity in Politics bring us all together; and, when we work together in a bipartisan way, we work towards solutions on the issues that matter to the communities that need it most.

AI is here, and we have no time to waste in mobilizing employers, educators, and government to make sure workers don’t get left behind.
