Elizabeth Ann Warren is an American attorney, academic, and politician serving as the senior United States senator from Massachusetts since 2013. A member of the Democratic Party, she has been a prominent advocate for consumer protection, economic equality, and corporate regulation. Warren gained national recognition for her work in establishing the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and has focused on issues such as student debt relief and healthcare reform during her tenure in the Senate.
I think in the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Congress made some very smart moves.
I ultimately believe that the real partners for this agency will be families all over this country.
And in response to this crisis, with overwhelming support from the American people, we created the CFPB, and it is carefully constructed, urgently needed, and should be allowed to go into operation as planned by the bill that was signed…
So far as I know, there is no agency anywhere in the Federal Government whose rulings, once arrived at through the full process, could actually be overruled by a group of other agencies.
I believe that an empowered consumer is a consumer who can not only protect himself or herself but one who can change the market.
