Mike Capuano is a former U.S. Representative from Massachusetts, serving from 1999 to 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, he represented Massachusetts's 8th congressional district. During his tenure, Capuano was known for his advocacy on issues such as healthcare, education, and civil rights. He served on several committees, including the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, where he focused on infrastructure development and public transportation improvements in his district.
I also want to state that, from what I see, there has been a lot of progress made.
For those of you who are not, understand it is going to be very difficult to make an argument that for some reason everybody else could do it except you.
There will be no more bottom lines on whether it was worth the money to not do PTC and possibly risk lives or property.
But it is also worth noting that to the American people, it was Democrats under the sterling leadership of our Ranking Member, Ms. Maxine Waters, who has been fighting and been our protector on many of these issues.
There are those who say that trade deficits don't have a harm. They lead to hollowed-out manufacturing, which leads to manufacturing towns where you have opioids, alcoholism, and votes for Donald Trump.
Let me point out, since Dodd-Frank, 17 million jobs have been created; 15 million of them under Obama, 2 million under Trump.
The fact is China launched this trade war against us in the year 2000, right after two-thirds of Democrats voted against giving China most favored nation status.
