Another reason I cannot support H.R. 1 in its current form is it is increasing the election system's vulnerability by failing to implement necessary checks and balances regarding who is eligible to register to vote.

I would love to talk to you about redistricting reform. I am from Illinois. We would love to have your support for redistricting reform efforts there.

H.R. 1 creates a false sense of security by federalizing and centralizing our election system.

I cannot support H.R. 1 in its current form because of those.

Introducing one-sided election reform is not the way to create positive and effective change for our Nation's election system.

I urge you to support the funding levels in the President's budget request for $116 million for nuclear waste disposal, and $38.5 million to restart the licensing process with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

I came here specifically to talk about Yucca Mountain because of the efforts of my colleague.

It is an honor to not just be the ranking member, but to be a partner with you at this Committee that has such a history of bipartisanship.

I actually appreciated the White House's infrastructure proposal.

What can be done or is actively being done to help the families have a better, more streamlined process when tragedies like this occur?

I appreciate what my colleagues on this committee are doing to urge the Navy and urge our military to investigate what caused these tragic accidents.

It is up to us as Congress to allow you the opportunity and the resources to fully investigate why these accidents have occurred.

I appreciate your regret. I appreciate your willingness to work together.

We want to provide you those resources, and we want to do a better job on our end.

I was probably most concerned that an outside organization had to pay for the flights of the family to go see their son's body returned to Dover Air Force Base.
