Pat Roberts is a former United States Senator from Kansas, serving from 1997 to 2021. Before his time in the Senate, Roberts served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1981 to 1997. Throughout his political career, he focused on issues important to Kansas, including farming and rural development. Roberts was also involved in various committees, including the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, where he played a significant role in shaping agricultural legislation.
I would urge this Committee to approve his nomination and bring his confirmation to a vote on the floor of the Senate as soon as possible.

What we need is a U.S. Trade Representative confirmed--that is you--and in place who will embark on a robust trade policy.
Our farmers and ranchers depend on strong trade relationships around the world.
Be the champion of agriculture from the start so we do not get into these problems.
If confirmed, I will ask USTR's office of Trade Policy and Economics to work with the ITC to ensure that the models it is using to assess new trade deals and in other contexts are as strong as possible.
