My constituents understand that trade is a lifeblood for U.S. farmers.

Trade is obviously a very key driver in Iowa's economy.

I represent the 4th District in Iowa. This is probably one of the largest ag industries in our nation.

Some of our farmers who have been able to guarantee fertilizer availability for next planting season have also reported prices being quoted to them that are six times higher than 2021.

The consolidation of the cattle industry is one of the most critical issues in my district.

The time to act is now and I hope Mr. Chairman and Ranking Member Thompson, that you will commit to working with me towards a hearing to examine the state of the market and putting forth solutions in the near future.

I cannot tell you how crucial this is. We have current independent cattle producers that will probably not be in business in the next 6 months if we do not get this rectified.

I want to call the Committee's attention to the current market conditions facing cattle producers in Iowa and across the United States.

So, when we look at Federal dollars that are going to be used for rural broadband, my concern is that we use them in an efficient way that we can put in the ground or use that one time that they can serve for the next 20 or 30 years…

I believe it is imperative that rural Iowans have the same quality of internet service as people that live in cities.

In rural Iowa, I constantly hear about the need for better connectivity in many areas.
