Let me first commend Chairman Upton and our colleague from Colorado, Ms. DeGette, for spearheading this bipartisan endeavor.

All of these mandates, all this mandated coverage, comes at a tremendous price.

That is categorically untrue.

There is nothing more permanent than a temporary federal government program.

I assure you that there is a plan. There may be a few people in this town that want to pretend that there is no plan. But there is.

It made no sense to cut $300 billion out of a program that 29 percent of Medicare beneficiaries had chosen.

As educators and legislators, we must not neglect our duties to equip these young people, our children, these students, with the tools and the knowledge to build a successful career.

I really have to commend the FDA on that and realizing the desire and need for new antibiotics and acting quickly to implement the program.

The President has consistently said that what is now reality would never happen, that if you like your health plan, you can keep it period.

The federal government has this bad tendency of torching a village to kill a gnat, and I think that is the real problem here

I want to thank Chairman Murphy for holding the hearing, educating members of the subcommittee on the impact of the Obama Administration's continued, and make no mistake about it, war on coal is what it is, is having on local communities.

The EPA has done basically is, they keep moving the goalpost, and all of a sudden because of the Supreme Court allowing them to do that, greenhouse gases, which could result in global warming, are pollutants.

In my home State of Georgia the insurance commission announced that for the average 27 year old no longer on their parents' policy, premiums are set to rise anywhere from 85 to 198 percent.

Most of ObamaCare is based on the premise that by forcing younger people into the market, they will help lower the costs for the older and the sicker individuals.

This law, in my opinion, picks winner and losers.

Would you please help the committee to understand how citizens from the State of Georgia will be benefiting from higher costs and a lack of competition on these exchanges other than to dole out Federal subsidy money by self-attestation?

President Obama campaigned that his plan was going to lower premiums across the country by $2,500 a year, and here we are 3 years later with premiums higher by $3,000 with a large jump expected again next year.

The maintenance of effort provisions in Obamacare have not only been costly, but they have been a barrier to reforms.

We have seen this administration continually use almost coercive methods to aid implementation of the law.

But, you know, here we are 50 years later, these States, and one of them is mine, the great State of Georgia, is far, far beyond that, and yet we are under section 5 of the Voting Rights Act for another 25 years.

Our Secretary of State has made it abundantly clear to me that this amendment is not necessary, and that the EAC indeed has outlived its usefulness.

The Election Assistance Commission has indeed outlived its usefulness.

We must scrutinize where every dollar of taxpayer money is being spent to ensure we are allocating these funds responsibly.
