I thank the subcommittee chair, Mr. Denham, for his leadership and his determination to move forward trying to get some of these public assets in the win column for the taxpayers.

It would light up a few lights. If it doesn't, then there is something wrong; somebody doesn't have their lights on up here.

But never before have I ever seen an administration that not only will not give you the information.

And since they don't cooperate and they stonewall us, it has been almost impossible to get information.

Our side is--and the founding fathers wanted it this way, they wanted oversight.

The stonewalling is a great new art form with these folks.

I'm very, very frustrated with this Administration in particular.

Somebody has to get control of this. With 65,000 employees, nearly $8 billion in expenditures, 14,000 administrative staff, it has reached critical mass.

The procurement process is a disaster. We just heard we are buying things we haven't properly vetted.

Don't you think that is a reasonable request, sir, that we have you act and make certain that this equipment... is properly deployed?

Somebody needs to get aware.

This is a disservice to TSA.

I think this is outrageous. We are depending on this agency to protect us, not to be storing equipment.

What happened to the puffers when they found they didn't work? They sat in warehouses.

I think each of my colleagues has alluded to the fact that aviation in this country is still at risk.

To that, I have to say absolutely they are not doing that.

I thought this motion to recommit was to accept the Senate position. So we're getting it to conference. Didn't I pass a motion to go to conference? So now what? You're asking me to just, okay, surrender, it's all over?

And then we signed that and we sent it to the Speaker. It has gone to the Speaker. So now we're doing that, and now you're asking me to go to conference and roll over and play dead?

Last week, I think it was, you had come to the floor and asked me to sign a letter to the Speaker to appoint conferees and to go to conference. That's correct?
