Thank you so much for putting H.R. 3969 on the agenda today.

Thank you so much for all of your expertise and your wonderful insight.

Thank you, Madam Chairwoman, and also thank you, Ranking Member Guthrie, for having this very, very important hearing.

Let's do what we can to make sure that we end that.

There are students on these same campuses who have the fluidity and ability to make sure that they can actually work and actually have enough money to eat.

They literally are suffering.

And I'm just so pleased to know that we now have a President and an administration who refuses to participate in any way in causing any trauma on any children or any families who come to our great country to seek asylum and to start a new…

For the last 4 years, we had a Trump administration that actually violated human rights, children's rights, violated our own laws.

I very clearly depict the Trump administration actions as being unconscionable and also human rights violations.

It is women and minority businesses that need that just fair, fair access to capital, just that fair playing field.

when we get it right, we do wonderful, amazing things not only for the American people but for the world.

this is probably the least bipartisan dialogue that I have seen in the 8 years that I have been in Congress.

I think it is fair and appropriate, the way President Biden has put in his budget to actually make it Senate-confirmed.

we are the innovation capital of the world.

this discussion today is all about the American people. It is about security for the American people.

we should not despair, and I don't think we should give up.

I believe that we can do it carefully in the United States. I believe in our institutions and our research to be able to do it right, respecting the individuals on the streets of America.

I believe that every Republican and every Democrat does believe in their heart that we represent everybody.

that public-private partnership needed to be expanded upon in this committee. And that is how you get things done.

As the wealthiest country in the world, the high cost of prescription drugs is unjust, and for too long it literally has become a matter of life and death for many families and many children.

Well, one of the things that I have a problem comparing us to Europe is that the United States invests more money in R&D in this field than they do in Europe.

And I think some people think that somebody who is expressing or treating somebody in a racist way has got a bad heart.

I think they should have greater authority to go after scammers, and simply getting stolen money returned or a court order preventing further illegal activity is insufficient, in my opinion.

In this great country of America, thank God we have a Federal Trade Commission like the FTC.

That is why I stress that the Consumer Protection and Recovery Act specifically provides section 13(b) authority for the FTC to recover for small businesses, not just for individuals.
