Preserving our Federal lands for future generations does not mean that we should close them to the current generation.

Thomas Miller McClintock is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for California's 5th congressional district since 2009. A member of the Republican Party, he has been an advocate for limited government and fiscal conservatism throughout his political career. McClintock has focused on issues such as tax reform, environmental policy, and government spending. He previously served in the California State Assembly and as a member of the California State Senate, where he gained recognition for his commitment to conservative principles.
I continue to support the goal of increasing access to our public lands and am happy to see this Committee prioritizing outdoor recreation.
I commend the work of law enforcement officers and firefighters to keep our public lands safe.
Why has it taken 45 years, and still we haven't managed to raise it by that simple amount?
As you may know, it was designed to be 800 feet. When it was built in 1944, it was built to only 600 feet.
By adding that extra 200 feet of elevation, it would mean an additional 9 million acre-feet of water storage, nearly tripling the capacity of the dam.
I think we are arguing past each other on a lot of the points that have been made today.
Parents have that right and responsibility to determine how their children are raised and what ideas they are exposed to.
