the idea was presented to our Congressman, the Honorable Congressman McClintock.
We have watched increasingly draconian restrictions placed on the people's ability to use, resort, and recreate on the people's lands.
Our current circumstance is baked in, and it is going to stay this way or get worse for the next 30 to 40 years, despite our best efforts.
And my response to that was, well, why doesn't somebody build a fish hatchery?
To add insult to insanity, when they tear down the Iron Gate Dam, the Iron Gate Fish Hatchery goes with it.
That $2 million project that was a heavy lift for a little community--within reach--that became an $11 million boondoggle.
I commend the work of law enforcement officers and firefighters to keep our public lands safe.
By adding that extra 200 feet of elevation, it would mean an additional 9 million acre-feet of water storage, nearly tripling the capacity of the dam.
