The Commission will encourage, plan, and coordinate observances of the centennial of President Eisenhower's birth.

I encourage the people of the United States to observe the week with appropriate ceremonies, programs, and activities.

Because it has to happen again and again and again until we have them all back.

We welcome the willingness of these Americans to serve on the U.S. delegation.

A typically American consortium—informal and effective—of individuals, corporations, foundations, and taxpayers provides financial support to artists.

And as we celebrate the arts, we celebrate and give thanks for our freedom, the only atmosphere in which artists can truly create and in which art is truly the expression of the soul.

The arts enlighten us and please us.
