Ronald Wilson Reagan was an American politician and actor who served as the 40th president of the United States from 1981 to 1989. A member of the Republican Party, he previously held the office of governor of California from 1967 to 1975. Reagan's presidency is noted for significant tax cuts, a strong anti-communist foreign policy, and the deregulation of various industries. His administration also faced challenges such as the Iran-Contra affair and economic issues, including inflation and unemployment.
I have reviewed the sanctions on the export of oil and gas equipment to the Soviet Union imposed on December 30, 1981, and have decided to extend these sanctions through adoption of new regulations.
The road to freedom is a long one, and I'm sure that all of you are aware of that.
Just remember that sometime when the going is very rough and you're particularly frustrated, before you push the typewriter off the desk—just stick with the rest, because we're going to get the job done, thanks to you.
Your work here, of course, has two goals—to represent America's interest, but you also are peacemakers.
