As for today's hearing, it could not be more appropriately entitled: 'Where the Jobs Are: There's an App for that.'

We enacted a very good bill that saved a lot of American jobs while providing important protections to U.S. consumers.

By and large the CPSC does an admirable job of protecting Americans, and I remain very supportive of its work.

Frankly, I am concerned that e-commerce will cease to grow and flourish if consumers lose faith in their ability to be protected from online predators.

We have a chance now to reverse this trend, and I applaud the hard work of Mr. Lipinski and Mr. Kinzinger.

I encouraged my colleagues to join me in an effort to make made in America matter again.

A vote for our resolution is a vote to keep the Internet free from government control.

It seems to me the manufacturers I have met, the women are entrepreneurial and they are recognizing their opportunities there and they are bringing their own great ideas into the sector.

I don't believe industry is doing enough on its own to protect American consumers.

I am still sceptical of the motives of both industry and government.

There are no easy answers or quick fixes when it comes to protecting consumer privacy online.

I believe that this approach, which empowers security experts to proactively address threats rather than reactively respond to them, is the best path forward.

Onerous new regulations they say will likely fall haplessly behind existing technology and divert valuable resources away from security and towards regulatory compliance.

I am honored to be here with my colleagues, as you hold this critically important hearing on the growing and deadly dangers prescription drug abuse poses to our Nation.

I am a little bit frustrated by the notion that a prescription drug monitoring program is punitive.

If 30,000 Americans died every year from food poisoning, Congress would take action.

There is no question our doctors are working too hard, and ultimately this comes out of their patient visit, they are scrambling because healthcare is squeezed more and more and more, and this is a part of the problem.
