Karen Bass is an American politician currently serving as the Mayor of Los Angeles, a position she has held since December 2022. She is a member of the Democratic Party and previously served as the U.S. Representative for California's 37th congressional district from January 2011 to December 2022. Bass has focused on issues such as public safety, accessibility, and community engagement throughout her political career.
But the way that it was portrayed nationally was like the whole city was up in flames, the comparison to 1992, which was completely and 100% inappropriate.

To me, this is another example of the administration ratcheting up chaos by deploying what looked like a military operation in an American city.

LAFD has just reported that all workers who were trapped in the tunnel in Wilmington are now out and accounted for.
Well, let me just say that the quote-unquote 'riots' that were reported never happened.
They need to leave, and they need to leave right now. They need to leave because this is unacceptable!
You have a situation now where people are walking down the street, a car will pull up, no license plate, men will jump out completely masked, pull guns on whoever it is and take them away.
Our city is definitely united … We are a city of immigrants, and we will stand united with Angelenos regardless of what country they came from, when they got here or why they’re here.
