Los Angeles has been under assault by the Trump Administration as masked men grab people off the street, chase working people through parking lots and march through children’s summer camps.
There is a need for me to have an executive directive to help our city understand how to protect itself from our federal government.
The directive will help city workers know how to address immigration officials should they approach a city department.
Cash cards with a 'couple hundred' dollars on them will be distributed by immigrants’ rights groups in about a week.
This is a win for Los Angeles and it is a win for cities all across the nation.
I just want to repeat the irony that I am going to sign an executive directive to help the city family understand how to protect the workforce and Angelenos from our federal government.
The family members that are left behind don’t know whether their family members are in the city, in the state, or even in the country.
This is for city departments, city employees to understand what their rights are, meaning that you can’t just allow people to come in and run roughshod.
Frankly, it is outrageous and un-American that we have federal armed vehicles in our parks when nothing is going on in the parks.
The city will coordinate between philanthropists and organizations distributing the cards, according to the mayor’s office.
