I introduced the Open Skies Stability Act to let our allies know that we in Congress felt that way about the Open Skies Treaty.

I and a number of other of my colleagues were absolutely disappointed by the withdrawal of the United States from the Open Skies Treaty.

In order to build back better, we must acknowledge that the fundamental right to housing can only be achieved if we increase access and eliminate discriminatory practices.

By historically prioritizing flood control projects in affluent areas, the Corps has been putting projects that protect property values ahead of projects that save lives.

We must also pursue an infrastructure package rooted in environmental justice.

We must invest in our communities to build back more resilient, more climate-smart infrastructure.

As Representatives in Congress for this Nation, it is all of our jobs to ensure that the programs for those tools and that food are here not just for today but tomorrow. We can live up to that responsibility by supporting H.R. 1868.

Given the high rate of food insecurity among our military families, do you believe that the Federal Government should develop and support targeted solutions to help end food insecurity among those currently serving?

United Fresh members fully support the House Agriculture Committee's efforts to bring attention to the millions of Americans who are still struggling to make ends meet.

SNAP is so important in this crisis, and it is also a situation which is being remedied or addressed at least with the American Rescue Plan.

Food banks, as important as they are, we cannot food bank our way out of this.

Every week that I am in the district, I get out to a food bank, and as you can imagine, I have seen those lines only get longer, unfortunately.

As many of you know, I come from the Central Coast of California, and as Zippy Duvall knows well, they call it the Salad Bowl of the World.

Farmers in my district did a pretty good job in donating food throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Obviously, that would not be achievable for any length of time, and that means that American families, kids, seniors would go hungry.

If you are going to have FEMA at the major population centers, then maybe you help the State and local governments use National Guard to get the vaccination out there to those areas that aren't in the major population areas.

Every week I try to get out to a food bank, and I can tell you, the ones that have the National Guard members helping out are the ones that run the most efficiently.

The National Guard has played a huge role within the last year, dealing with wildfires, dealing with storms, yes, dealing with COVID.

I agree with the President of the United States that we are dealing with a wartime effort.

A week ago was the culmination of carnage caused to our country by this President. Four years ago, he said he would stop such devastation. Instead, the President has continued to debase our democracy with assaults on our elections and…

I think it is very important that our students understand not just what it takes to move the food and agricultural industry, but to understand the history of food and agriculture.

We want to hear about these, because we know how important they are to our agriculture.

It says a lot about Chair Plaskett's leadership, but it also says a lot about the make-up of the Agriculture Committee.
