Herbert Clark Hoover was the 31st President of the United States, serving from March 4, 1929, to March 4, 1933. A member of the Republican Party, Hoover was born in Iowa but later moved to California. Before his presidency, he served as the Secretary of Commerce from 1921 to 1928, where he focused on promoting economic growth and efficiency. Hoover was also known for his humanitarian efforts during World War I, leading relief efforts in Europe and earning a reputation as a skilled administrator.
I wish you every success in the efforts you and your associates are putting forth along these lines.
I am much interested in the work of the Pan American Society in its promotion of friendly relations and mutual understanding between the United States and its sister republics of Latin America.
The proposed legislation has my approval and I recommend its immediate enactment.
There is nothing in the program which has been proposed here that has any intention of taking over the responsibilities of the States in any shape or form.
It is from too much emphasis on 'government of the people' that we get the fundamental confusion that government, since it can correct much abuse, can also create righteousness.
When we look back over history we see the periods of either moral, social, economic, or political stagnation while the truth was en route and some variety of demagoguery occupied the scene.
