This government attacked me because of my political beliefs, but I refuse to be cast as a victim; not to the IRS; not to the FBI; not to OSHA; not to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, or to any other government agency.

I will not retreat, I will not surrender, I will not be intimidated, and I will not ask for permission to exercise my constitutional rights.

Pass a law that exposes government officials who trample on the rights of ordinary citizens.

Let us hold a hearing to help our constituents, not just the constituents from my district, from all of our districts.

The fact is that under this program, whether it was done in the past or not, it guarantees that the health insurance insurers will get their full 3 percent by over-billing.

We have reported the legislation out of committee, and my hope is that we can get that done.

The problem is us. We are not acting on the information that we have.

It is not meant to embarrass.

If you can't find waste in any part of the Federal budget... You haven't looked.

The Pentagon can't pass a simple audit.

Should we be spending that money now? And I would contend that we shouldn't.

You have to win over the heart of the committee chairman of jurisdiction and say, won't you do oversight on this?

When we are borrowing $680 billion a year from our kids, are these things that we listed in the Wastebook a priority for the Government of the United States?

I am embarrassed that we as Members of Congress have allowed this list with the multitude of programs that are on there...

Do you think they are going to do an audit without any teeth, without any threat, without any consequences of not doing it?

Why do we have that many? Why can't we consolidate those?

If I had a dollar for every time somebody said to me in the last year, I don't mind paying a little more in taxes; I don't want you to waste my money.

We are determined to get that legislation through; it is out of our committee.
