I think we acknowledge that energy and water resources are the foundation of our Nation's economy.

Go fight the good fight, because Alaska also doesn't have that sales tax.

I'm more convinced that it's over water, because it's through water that we will be able to control so much of what we do in other parts of our world.

I hope that we can proceed in the near future with legislation to address the issues associated with water management and energy and fuel production.

I think at the end of the day, we have to remember that everything begins with water.

S. 340 would not establish a precedent, given that the other regional corporations have assured her that they would not ask Congress to allow major changes to their existing land holdings.

We greatly appreciate Ranking Member Murkowski's leadership on this issue.

But I think that it is recognized that good faith effort was made by everyone from Sealaska, to the communities, to the fishermen, to the sportsmen, to the recreationists, to the folks in the agencies.

It's been difficult to get that level of commitment.

It will not be establishing a precedent for reopening into the future for other Native Corporations.

I am hopeful that we are close to being able to resolve this.

I think it's important that we have worked diligently throughout this process to ensure that it is not precedent setting.

We appreciate the opportunity to weigh in on this legislation which will shape the future of Southeast Alaska in profound ways.
