What do people do about out of network providers and these surprise bills?

Small practices just cannot afford to bring on the folks to deal with the billing, to deal with the insurance companies, to deal with Medicare and Medicaid.

Alaska put in place something that is called the 80th percentile rule.

we are still the highest cost energy state. We are struggling but we have so many opportunities that we get very, very excited about.

The fish do not care whether it is Federal or State.

And fair allocation of a fishery, not just for the resource that is there today, but going to be there next summer, the summer thereafter and thereafter.

All I know is that when I am out there on the river, when I am out there in the fish camps, people are not talking about compliance with some Federal laws. They are wondering how they are going to be able to feed their families.

I appreciate the Committee scheduling this hearing today to examine the importance of traditional and customary subsistence activities in our Native communities.

It is that legal binding aspect of this that makes the difference in ensuring there really is this seat at the table, this level of participation.

This is exactly the type of leadership that we need that will help us get agencies, like the BIA and the BIE, off this High Risk List.

I certainly hope that all our taking these recommendations very seriously and using them as a path forward.

I only add this, Mr. Chairman, because I think it is imperative that, as we move nominees through the Committee, we work aggressively to get them through the full process.

We can make a measurable difference in what this wildfire season ends up looking like, and it starts with being careful.
