I am like you, I don't really like the Federal Government coming in and interfering with the state. I have seen that happen.

This maintains, Mr. Chairman, the best Navy fleet, the best ships, modern technology, huge workforce, and good service.

I do think there has been some misinterpretation.

That affects a large, very viable section of our domestic industry and our national defense.

I can't see any benefit from it. No one has justified it to me.

I am a big supporter of the Jones Act. And much as I like Puerto Rico, there has been a group of people over the years trying to subvert the Jones Act.

I believe very strongly--I know what you have to do.

This is not a vehicle to promote other activities outside of the conservation, sustainable yield, community support for fisheries.

I am going to be working with Mr. Huffman, and we are going to see if we cannot come to some conclusion.

We just have to get our science right.

Most of the suggestions of H.R. 200 came from those people.

I am looking for a new name for the red snapper, and I am going to call it the Graves snapper.

The original Act, as in place now, does work.

There are no solutions.

The fault of this Congress is that no longer do the committees write legislation.

SFA supports H.R. 200 and appreciates Congressman Don Young and his staff and this Subcommittee and its staff to bring this bill forward for further discussion.
