I am thrilled to see this legislation become the law of the land.

As States across the country, including my state of West Virginia, consider nuclear power’s potential meet the growing energy demand, I expect the NRC will prove through its actions that it will not be an obstacle to reliable, clean…

Most importantly, the NRC is projecting an increase of licensing work, the purpose for which the Agency exists.

I have previously expressed caution, particularly with the likelihood of unintended consequences, about the potential impacts of creating regulatory uncertainty if the NRC does not accomplish its task deliberately.

Good morning and thank you for joining us today as we hear from members of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission on the NRC’s proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2027.

Will you please, Chairman Nieh, briefly summarize and quantify key cost savings that are included in this budget that would have been as a result of the ADVANCE Act?

Let’s just talk first with Chairman Nieh about the proposed budget, which is nearly $80 million lower than the enacted budget of Fiscal Year 2026.

I'd rather see what you're saying, focus on the ones that are working.

I can tell you from where I sit in West Virginia, it has been a very effective program. We've used it for infrastructure upgrades.

Within your existing authority, without new legislation, Mr. Secretary, are there changes, maybe three changes that you could implement in the next 12 months to make FHA multifamily financing faster, simpler, and less costly?

To me, that is bone chilling.

We shouldn't be shutting the government down.

Well, nothing burns taxpayers more than fraud and abuse.

I think that is actually a very personal attack on our justices.

I’m proud to support this legislation that reins in unnecessary data collection and puts U.S. small businesses’ privacy first.

I personally think is too high. That means one of every $10 that goes out is an acceptable rate if it's improperly used.

I know that the miner injury, you just released the statistic that mining injury hit a record low in 2025. But of course, when you lose six in one state, who lost their lives. That's six too many, as I'm sure you agree.
