Shelley Moore Capito is an American politician serving as the senior United States senator from West Virginia since January 2015. A member of the Republican Party, she is the first woman to represent West Virginia in the U.S. Senate. Prior to her Senate career, Capito served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2001 to 2015, representing West Virginia's 2nd congressional district.
