Patrick Leahy is a former United States Senator from Vermont, serving from 1975 until 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, he was the longest-serving senator in Vermont's history and held significant leadership roles, including President pro tempore of the Senate. Throughout his tenure, Leahy was known for his work on issues such as civil liberties, health care, and environmental protection. He played a key role in various legislative efforts, including the Violence Against Women Act and initiatives to reform the criminal justice system.

And I agree, and they are important. And it is also important to not fight over the quarters but rather fight for a result.
I have never seen in my lifetime in this State a law enforcement community more fully committed to prevention and treatment efforts as we have right now.
We have to get ahead of addiction. We cannot let it corrode our lives and our communities.
Thank you for your unwavering support of the city of Rutland. It is appreciated by all of us who are working tirelessly to get this right.
Without the funding secured by Senator Leahy over the years--and it does go back decades--our ability to operate the Drug Task Force at the level of success it enjoys today would not be possible.
