David P. Roe is a former Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives, serving Vermont's 1st congressional district from January 4, 2005, to January 3, 2021. During his time in Congress, Roe was known for his focus on healthcare issues, particularly in relation to veterans and the military. He served on several committees, including the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs, where he advocated for improved services for veterans and their families.
We are trying to find out what they are and resolve the problems because it is affecting veterans.
I think probably you will find most of us physicians on the panel up here are more interested in the access and the quality of care that veterans are getting.
It is very, very important. I think consumers are confused. They need somebody they trust, somebody in their community that they can count on to have their best interests and give them advice.
Retirement security is something many Americans work hard to achieve, but doing so can be very challenging.
I know the overwhelming majority of them have always acted in their clients' best interests, and do not need the Department of Labor to tell them what to do.
If the DOL rule limits access to professional advisors, what are some of the poor choices they might make, including taking taxable distributions subject to early withdrawal penalties?
We are moving this week to fix that mistake. It is my hope we will stop this rule before it becomes yet another mistake in overreach by the Federal Government.
As with most well-intended Big Government schemes, it's the people who need help who are hurt the most.
Unfortunately, we're here today because a proposal from the Department of Labor is threatening to make it harder for workers to do that.
Why would my constituents have any confidence that a new Government driven regime for financial advice will turn out any better than the implementation of ObamaCare or the administration of the VA?
I think this is great that we have one way of VA veterans getting access to community care rather than the hodgepodge of efforts.
