David P. Roe is a former Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives, serving Vermont's 1st congressional district from January 4, 2005, to January 3, 2021. During his time in Congress, Roe was known for his focus on healthcare issues, particularly in relation to veterans and the military. He served on several committees, including the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs, where he advocated for improved services for veterans and their families.
The question is, our people are paying the price for that, and when we look at a 42,000--it is 80,000 on the private side--to get this treatment.
State-collected data show that more than two-thirds of the students in the Wisconsin Choice Program and about half of the Indiana voucher recipients were enrolled in private schools before they received the voucher.
Today, we will discuss the private school choice initiatives that have proliferated throughout the country for the last 20 years.
What I cannot understand, if you are going to a failing school, why anybody would want to keep a child in that school.
The legacy of ESEA that improvements in education support a basic civil right and should benefit all of our children--that concept is at risk.
If you are going to say something, do it. If you are going to do it, do it right.
I believe that Bob McDonald and Sloan Gibson are outstanding leaders trying to move the department into the 21st Century.
It is hard for me to go home, as their representative, and explain that to them when you have a veteran who is waiting on an answer for a claim that has been submitted.
So it is impossible to pick up with the current system that you have their productivity.
I can assure you that if some of these people had been working in your shop when you were in the private sector, or in my shop when I was in the private sector, they would have been fired.
