I reserve the balance of my time, and I would yield the floor to Senator Merkley. The PRESIDING OFFICER. The Senator from Oregon.

The PRESIDING OFFICER (Mr. Kelly). Is there a sufficient second? There appears to be a sufficient second.
I ask unanimous consent for 1 minute. The PRESIDING OFFICER. Without objection, it is so ordered.
I would like to say a few words on the nomination of Erika McEntarfer to be the Commissioner of Labor Statistics at the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics at the Department of Labor. President Biden nominated Ms. McEntarfer to the position on…
I would like to say a few words on the resolution I have introduced under section 502B of the Foreign Assistance Act, which I intend to bring to the floor next week. This resolution is privileged. We will have a floor debate on it, and…
let me begin by wishing all Americans and my colleagues here in the Congress a very happy and peaceful holiday season. Unfortunately, for the people in Israel and Palestine, that will not be the case. This is not a peaceful season for…
Today, we are going to be discussing one of the major health crises in America, and that is the diabetes epidemic.
We need Congress to move swiftly and enact the STP and STPI funding contained in S. 1855.
Now is the time for us to seriously combat the type 2 diabetes and obesity epidemics in America.
I consider the high cost of prescription drugs to be one of the great crises facing our healthcare system.
I thank you Chairman Sanders, Ranking Member Dr. Cassidy, and Members of this Committee for advancing S. 1855--bipartisan legislation led by Senators Susan Collins and Jeanne Shaheen to renew the SDP and SDPI.
We have got to make certain that the treatments available to people with diabetes are affordable for all Americans and are not bankrupting Federal health insurance programs or raising the cost of private insurance.
We are going to have to take on 1,800 well-paid lobbyists from the pharmaceutical industry here and all of the campaign contributions that they make.
Let me repeat, these two important drugs, up to 15 times more expensive in the United States than in other countries.
And if the system provides barriers, as Senator Sanders said, to drugs that could improve your care and your life and your health, then we haven't succeeded in our mission.
These drugs also have the potential to bankrupt Medicare and the American people.
In order to do that, we must have the courage to take on the greed of the food and beverage industry, which every day is undermining the health and well-being of our children.
What the president is trying to do, he is trying to make clear to Netanyahu and his right-wing extreme– extremist government is, yes, you can go to war against Hamas, but you cannot go to war against the Palestinian people and cause the…
I think the war clearly has been very harmful, not just among progressives, not just among Democrats.
But, at the end of the day, when somebody is saying they believe in genocide for the Jewish people or racist attacks against black Americans, or et cetera, that is not acceptable.
What the president is trying to do, he is trying to make clear to Netanyahu and his right-wing extremist government is, yes, you can go to war against Hamas, but you cannot go to war against the Palestinian people and cause the horrific…
I think this war has been – I don't know the answer to that. But I think the war clearly has been very harmful, not just among progressives, not just among Democrats.
It is a humanitarian disaster. And the United States has got to put all of the pressure that it can to tell Netanyahu to stop this disastrous military approach.
But they are equally outraged now by what Israel is doing. So, you're seeing all over this country people saying, why are we giving money to an Israeli government that is doing such awful things?
Yes, you can go to war against Hamas, but you cannot go to war against the Palestinian people and cause the horrific damage to human life that we are seeing right now.
