They are sick and tired of being ripped off by the pharmaceutical industry, and they are very tired of paying by far the highest prices in the world for prescription drugs.

We are talking about one-sixth of the American economy and there will be no public discussion. No committee hearings. No witnesses coming forward. This is really outrageous.

It is a fraud to take insurance from middle class folks, folks who might be struggling in this country so that you can muster up enough money to hand another big tax break to people that do not need it.

Once they get in, how do they feel about the quality of care in the VA?

Look, no hospital in America does not have problems. Correct? Every day, there are problems. We know that.

I think what I think the veterans community fears very much... they are not paranoid about this. They have legitimate concerns.

Generally speaking, the quality of care is good, that the average veteran in this country, in fact, is very, very proud of the care that they get at the VA.

But, some of us believe that when people put their lives on the line to defend this country, it should not be just taking from Peter to pay Paul.

Our job is to improve what already works reasonably well and not to dismember it, which is a fear that I think many service organizations have, and it is a fear that I share.

I think you are absolutely right, but even from a dollars and cents point of view, doesn't it make sense to give support to those people who care for veterans in their homes rather than putting them in nursing homes?

I want to see the VA be strengthened, provide the highest-quality care in a timely manner to all of our veterans.

I would simply say, Mr. Chairman, that this nominee is really not someone who is what this country is supposed to be about. I will vote no.

It is not just that there are massive cuts to health care, to education, to nutrition, to environmental protection, to affordable housing--about $2.5 trillion in cuts over a 10-year period.

Do you really think that they think it is a great idea to give up to a $52 billion tax break to the wealthiest family in this country, a family worth something like $130 billion?

The Trump budget would cut affordable housing to some 250,000 families at a time when millions of working people are spending 40, 50, or 60 percent of their limited incomes trying to put a roof over their heads.

This is a budget that would cause devastating economic pain to tens of millions of Americans.

The Trump budget would eliminate the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program.
