VA must take these steps to make sure it does not repeat mistakes made at the first five sites.

I am convinced that H.R. 2499 is vitally important.

It has faced issue after issue, and providers and veterans at these five sites are not getting the support and care they need.

I think Ranking Member Takano's bills are a great start to get us back on track in delivering better healthcare benefits to our veterans and supporting the VA.

I look forward to collaborating across the aisle, as we successfully accomplished last Congress.

Those should be the loudest voices at that table.

H.R. 592 would require medical center and Veterans Integrated Services Network (VISN) leadership to certify the EHRs ready for their hospital before it can be installed.

Congress never authorized the EHR Modernization Program, and it has struggled from the very beginning.

The VA often puts actions ahead of planning.

I represent Hampton Roads and recently got to talk to and visit the Hampton VA, which is doing a great job.

How are we ensuring that when these patients are discharged, I am sure there is a discharge planner that makes sure they have a follow-up appointment, that make sure they go home with their meds.

Their two complaints were that they wanted more space and they needed more people, which I think is kind of are universal complaints.

I just want to make sure we are prioritizing staying competitive so that they are incentivized to be able to see our patients.

The VA must learn from its past failures and implement lessons learned.

Accountability at the VA is so important because it is fundamental to veterans and their experience with the Department.

These employees are hardworking people who want to serve our veterans. However, they are leaving the VA because their supervisors are not held accountable.

I am honored to be the chairwoman of the subcommittee. I look forward to working with Ranking Member Mrvan.

Virginians know how to be good stewards of the environment without sacrificing jobs or hurting our economy.
