I think the National Trust for Historic Preservation should make a choice. They should either make the decision that they are going to simply be involved in preserving individual historic properties, in which case there may be an argument to be made for Federal funds, or they should do what they are doing now, but do it only with private support, and not with the support of direct taxpayer subsidies.
