Jason Chaffetz is a former Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Utah's 3rd congressional district from 2009 to 2017. This is just simply unacceptable. And I think that there needs to be accountability for it.
I don't think you can have an IRS Commissioner come in front of the Congress, testify under oath that he has confirmed that all the backup tapes have been destroyed.
I find it inconceivable that they would be unaware of the investigation and of the need to turn over every document that might have some relevance to this.
I think we've seen this with Commissioner Koskinen's attitude that he really has had a contempt for this entire investigation.
I think you are part of the problem. I think if we want different results, we are going to have to have different people.
I think the seriousness of this requires new leadership and a new fresh set of eyes to do that.
Personal accountability is paramount. People have roles and responsibilities.
As the head of the agency, Ms. Archuleta is, in fact, statutorily responsible for the security of the OPM network.
