Billions of taxpayer dollars have been continually put at high risk and multiple key security programs do not fully meet the Department of Homeland Security's needs because DHS senior leadership is failing to hold acquisition programs…

Because I think the current impression with a lot of the American people is that there is no security at all down there.

I do think those integrated fixed towers are really going to transform the security down there on the border.

When I hear it is going to take 10 more years to secure the border, that just didn't go over well with my constituents.

I thought that was a real positive step to say, hey, here is some good news of what we are doing on the border.

But more and more I am starting to think that what we really need is a business leader at the top.

I remember I used to think that the Secretary of Homeland Security should be somebody with like our background, a prosecutor, law-enforcement type.

The American people's faith in Government was severely shaken.

What does DHS have to hide on its participation in these conferences?

This is truly unacceptable.

I think there is an issue with that. I personally think it should be more under civilian control.

I think one of the greatest disappointments I think I, and this committee I think, share in is that the Congress did not pass cybersecurity legislation, which is so important.

My kind of nightmare scenario is a strike from Israel, against Iran.

I would like to enter that letter into the record, and I hope the Secretary hears this and responds to that letter.

It was an act of terrorism, and I do believe that the families of the victims need to be compensated adequately.

I think the Federal Government deserves--or should give an apology, a formal apology as to what happened.

I can't imagine why, if the Federal Government has this information within its hands, it can't share it with the United States Army.

I believe there is no higher priority for our National security than the issue of information sharing.
