I have never seen a sadder face on any person than I saw on you following the Columbia accident.

The Public Record
Kay Bailey Hutchison is a former U.S. Senator from Texas, serving from 1993 to 2013. A member of the Republican Party, she was the first woman to represent Texas in the Senate. During her tenure, Hutchison was known for her work on issues such as space exploration, military funding, and education. She played a significant role in advocating for NASA and was a strong supporter of human spaceflight initiatives. Hutchison also served as the chair of the Senate Republican Conference and was involved in various bipartisan efforts throughout her career.
I think it is just absolutely essential that we renew our commitment to the shuttle and to the manned shuttle.
I am more encouraged by this year's NASA budget than I have been in years past.
I think this is one of the great success stories of our ongoing efforts with space exploration.

It is my fervent wish that we would be able to pass our bill before the end of this session
This legislation addresses the issue of mammography. It mandates that everyone has a right to receive a mammogram who is 40 years of age or older or is at high risk of developing breast cancer.
I hope, as we all do, that we will soon arrive at answers to the many questions before us on this matter.
I am concerned after reading the recent Washington Post article that women will not be encouraged to get a mammogram.
That is right, Madam Chairman, and you and I, of course, have worked on many cancer issues and trying to fund cancer research.
