I understand the impulse, but I do not think the criticism is entirely accurate.

I just want to close by joining the chairman in asking that you relay to all of the women and men in your agencies, our gratitude.

Now is the time for Members of Congress--regardless of party--to stand together in support of a non-partisan commission.

I want to thank all the witnesses for being here. This is a really important topic and one that interests me as a former Federal prosecutor.

I see cybersecurity as one of the pre-eminent domestic and National security policy challenges of our generation.

I guess I want to start and ask your opinion on that report: whether you think it has the scientific rigor, if you will, to defend its foundational validity.

We need the funding in order to undergo universal accreditation for forensic science providers in the country.

Thank you. I want to follow up, because I do not know if it came out of PCAST or if it came out of the National Commission on Forensic Science, but recently, DOJ has made a number of changes in policy that impact what you all do every day.

These actions by Russia were an invasion of the privacy of citizens and that they undermined our democratic institutions and elections.

I appreciate the chairman's indulgence. I would like to ask questions of all of you, but let me just commend you all and thank you for the work that you've done and hopefully will continue to do in this important space.

I had high expectations, as I said at the outset, and from my perspective those expectations have been met for this hearing.

Cybersecurity touches every aspect of the world we live in. It's central to every sector of our economy.

Our collective ability to combat these threats--with the Government and the private sector working together--will be one of the defining public policy challenges of our generation.

I don't take the responsibility the lawmakers in this room have lightly.

I think we should start moving forward instead of moving back and re-litigating past debates.

I think that would be a mistake.

In a world of rapidly-evolving threats, we have been entrusted to be part of the solution.

I think we need to finally start showing compassion for people who are already here with real border security.
