The availability of these funds is critical to many communities.

It is important that the Subcommittee assess the state of research and development related to in-space propulsion technologies.

In-space propulsion will be a critical enabler of our future missions, especially those involving human exploration beyond Earth orbit.

When we consider progress, we also need to understand whether sufficient resources are being invested to make sure the technologies will be ready when NASA needs them.

The true intent of this testimony was to criticize Administrator Pruitt's evaluation of the BOSC rather than discuss State involvement of EPA rulemaking.

The decision by EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt earlier this month to not renew 9 of the 18 members of the Agency's Board of Scientific Counselors (BOSC) is just the latest example of this Administration's efforts to silence scientists.

research to me is the door to the future.

Humanity's centuries-old quest to understand our place in the universe has gained significant ground in recent years.

We need to continue to invest as a Nation in research and development, not cut back.

What do we do as a Congress to make sure that in 30 years, we're on top of what's going on in the universe?

I strongly support open science and data sharing.

I also cosponsored with Representative Tonko's Scientific Integrity Act that promotes open science and data sharing.

I'm really excited about the possibilities for the commercial exploration and utilization of outer space.

We have a responsibility to provide them with as clear guidance as possible.

I want our commercial space industry to grow and succeed but determining what measures are needed to help ensure the safety and sustainability of space operations will require careful consideration.

dreaming big is what propels our nation to achieve lasting accomplishments.

But what I will not accept is when Members or staff provide clearly misleading information about me or my colleagues to the press, the public, or anyone else.

As a matter of fact, this is the beginning of my 25th year. There are many times I have disagreed with my Republican colleagues.

I strongly support this bill and urge my colleagues to support it as well.
