Trey Gowdy is a former U.S. Representative for South Carolina's 4th congressional district, serving from 2011 to 2019. A member of the Republican Party, Gowdy gained national prominence as the chairman of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, where he led investigations into the 2012 attack on the U.S. consulate in Libya. Time and time and time again, our Nation has witnessed the tragic consequences of this Administration's failure to enforce immigration law.
We are here today because the Department of Justice, the entity that is supposed to be the chief enforcer of the law, is aiding and abetting local governments in the failure to enforce the law.

The President of the United States... prejudges an investigation while the investigation is pending.
There is a palpable animus, a hostility toward conservatives that comes through in her work emails.
Congress... has not only the right but, frankly, an obligation to provide oversight over an agency.
