Trey Gowdy is a former U.S. Representative for South Carolina's 4th congressional district, serving from 2011 to 2019. A member of the Republican Party, Gowdy gained national prominence as the chairman of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, where he led investigations into the 2012 attack on the U.S. consulate in Libya. His tenure in Congress was marked by a focus on issues such as government oversight and national security. Prior to his congressional career, Gowdy served as a federal prosecutor and was known for his legal expertise and assertive questioning style during hearings.
I'm glad we added to the Adam Walsh Child Safety Act the requirement that if you're a sex offender and you're registered, you change States, you've got to register again or it's another Federal offense.
I thank Congressman Sensenbrenner for his introduction of the Adam Walsh Reauthorization Act, legislation that is necessary to maintain the good accomplished by this act and improve the system to be more efficient and more just.
The president is the head of the executive branch and to the extent information is held within the executive branch, including classified information, the president has the power to both declassify it and to have it released.
