They don't want to grapple with what it means to have a growing number of private anglers exploiting a precious and finite public resource.

Regional management does not fit the commercial fishery. It is opposed by all commercial fishermen I know.

The push for 'regional management' is nothing less than a back-door attempted coup d'etat.

I just, you know, for many years we had so many countries that were just completely underdeveloped.

I think we can do that.

As much as I would like to say let's set that land aside, let's buy this land, let's create a duck habitat... this overwhelming burden of our Nation's debt... overwhelms my desire to do that.

I just can't in good conscience, Mr. Chairman, support something that will allow the Government to continue to feed this beast and 'indebt' future generations.

We may have to pass on some things because we can't afford it.

I'm concerned about what seems to be an insatiable desire of the Federal Government... to own more and more.

If landowners become forced into willing sellers, to me that's not being a willing seller.

Let me be clear. No one appreciates the job that you've done and continue to do more than I do.

The Federal Government ought to be selling properties that we currently own that are sitting vacant in this city that we're having to maintain.

But we're in days of austerity. We're in days of austerity, and I would be more apt to support an option on purchase of that going forward, when times get not as lean as we are now.

We're $17 trillion in debt in this Nation. Let me repeat that number: $17 trillion.

The Caribbean region being possibly a potential to become an unlocked back door to the continental United States.

The timeliness of this hearing is ironic.

These truck drivers are human beings. They are not computers or machines. People need different amounts of rest.

We have problems in both ends of the system, right? The high performers don't get rewarded well enough.

It should be easy for people to comply with regulations.

That is abysmal, the fact that we are going to waive entry for folks that have committed those type of crimes.

First off, let me just say that, after 11 years, this program should be a lot further along than it is.

We should tell these other countries that we may have to start reducing not only our direct foreign aid, but even, more importantly, all the aid that we are doing through all these other departments and agencies in the Federal Government.

Some people don't like to admit this or point this out, but our direct foreign aid is a small part of the budget.

I too would like to express my regret about the ambassador not being here to testify, especially when the State Department has asserted a policy or hidden behind a policy that they have not applied in several other instances.
