This year’s budget marks the seventh consecutive year that the General Assembly has agreed with my proposal to freeze in-state college tuition.

This budget once again provides funds for the Education Scholarship Trust Fund.

This budget adopts my recommendation to expand the program in private providers where there are slots available to children whose annual family income is 300% or less of the federal poverty guidelines.

These law enforcement officers stand on the front lines to keep children safe so that they can learn and grow.

I have made raising teacher pay a priority, and working together, we have now fulfilled my pledge to pay every starting teacher at least $50,000.

The cuts to individual income taxes are substantial.

South Carolina is stronger, safer, and more prosperous than it was ten years ago, and people across the country have taken notice.

I think with good leadership, with our great people, the future is very bright.

I would’ve liked more, but we’ll take it, and we’ll squeeze it, and we’ll keep going.

That’s good news, because even when you count inflation, that’s gone up a whole lot.

Earmarks are not the way. That’s not the way to run a government.

The State of South Carolina must pay its bills, including debt owed to contractors and vendors who have completed work at the Scout Motors site.

This budget shows the great progress that South Carolina has made over this decade and demonstrates what is possible when we cooperate, communicate, and collaborate to serve the people of this great State.

When our neighbors are facing the threat of a hurricane, South Carolina stands ready to help, just as others have done for us in times of disaster.
